Welcome, welcome. You are listening to Stoop Politics, Episode 1, The Socialist, the Survivor, and the Dawn.So pull up a stoop, grab your coffee, and don't block the sidewalk. You're listening to Stoop Politics.I'm Jessi Mercury, and this week, the rent is too damn high, but the drama at City Hallis free. We're talking about Mayor-elect Zoran Mamdani making history, while Eric Adams is grinninglike he got away with murder, or at least bribery, and the civil war brewing betweenNew York City and the White House. If it's happening in the five boroughs, we're spilling it right here on the stoop.Let's get into it.First up, the headline everyone is still texting about.Zoran Mamdani is the next mayor of New York City.Let's be real.Six months ago, nobody thought that a 34-year-old Socialist Assembly member could beat AndrewCuomo.Cuomo had the name, the money, and the establishment panic on his side. But Mamdani pulled off in a 50.4% win.The first Muslim mayor, the first South Asian mayor, and the youngest in a century. So the hot goss. How did he do it?The rent freeze promise, while Cuomo was talking about experience and management, Mamdani wastelling every renter in Queens he'd freeze their rent. That message cut through the noise, but here's the tea.Mamdani is inheriting a $5 billion budget deficit. He promised free buses and universal child care, but the city's credit card is maxedout.Kind of like mine. The honeymoon phase is going to be short, folks.January 1st is going to be a rude awakening. Now let's talk about the guy packing his bags at Gracie Mansion.Yep, you guessed it.That's Eric Adams. If you're wondering why Adams isn't in a courtroom right now, you're not alone.Remember back in April, federal judge Dale Ho dismissed the bribery charges against Adamswith prejudice. That means they can never be refiled. Now the hot goss, the spicy fart. Here's what the insiders are whispering. The dismissal didn't happen because Adams was proven innocent. It happened because the Doge, under Trump administration, ordered prosecutors to dropit.Recall that memo? The Doge claimed the case was distracting Adams from helping with federal immigrationenforcement. Then, the U.S. attorney, Danielle Sassoon, resigned in protest.Yeah, that's not normal. That's nuclear.Word on the street is there was a quid pro quo.Adams plays nice with Trump's ICE agenda, and his federal case magically vanishes.Adams denies it, obviously. He says he was targeted politically from the start, but now he's leaving office a freeman. While his former aides, they're still sweating legal bills. That is the definition of a survivor. Finally, let's look at the storm clouds. We're about to see a collision between the most progressive mayor in New York City historyand the Trump White House.Shocked?I'm not.Trump has already called Mamdani a communist on Truth Social and threatened to cut federalfunding if New York doesn't cooperate with mass deportations.Mamdani ran on Trump-proofing the city. The hot goss here? Those two are scheduled to meet in the Oval Office pretty soon.Picture that room.Zoran Mamdani, who's spent his career protesting everything Trump stands for, shaking handswith the Don.We're hearing Mamdani is going to try to leverage New York's economic power, but Trump holdsthe purse strings. If Trump cuts infrastructure grants, the subway and Mamdani's mayorality could grind to ahalt before it even starts. So that's the state of the city.We got a socialist coming in, a survivor walking out, and a president ready to rumble.Join me next week on Stoop Politics. We're going to deep dive into Mamdani's cabinet picks.Who's actually going to run the New York Police Department? You won't want to miss that one.I'm Jessi Mercury.Keep your ears open, New York.
